I still plan to find my Pickin' Magazines and see if I can find the article on the Gibson Mandolins, which hopefully will have serial /year information. As Frank suggested I will take and send some good photos and serial s and factory order numbers of the two mandolins.
Research undertaken by David Fridy who located these instruments: E. The mandolin archive website is fantastic. Probable manufacture date of 1923 or 1924. Most prewar and wartime Gibson banjos are actually marked with factory order numbers rather than serial numbers, but for right now you dont need to be worried. Also fitted with new Eagle Puretone strings and tuned GDAE. A sighted instrument serial 34037 reportedly purchased 1924. This banjo has has a fingerboard overhaul and been refretted recently by luthier Steve Agnew.
